Singer PinkPantheress forced to pull out of Parklife

An up-and-coming singer songwriter has been forced to pull out of Manchester's Parklife festival for health reasons. PinkPantheress apologised to fans but said she needed time to recover from 'hearing difficulties'.

The 22-year-from Bath made her name on TikTok before signing major record deals - she said she was devastated to miss out on Parklife which returns to Heaton Park on Saturday and Sunday but had to pull out 'under doctor's orders'.

This year's event is set to be bigger than ever as it welcomes a huge lineup of international stars from 50 Cent and Tyler, The Creator, to Megan Thee Stallion and Lewis Capaldi. They'll be joined by the likes of Chase & Status, Jamie xx and Four Tet, as well as Peggy Gou, Arlo Parks and Loyle Carner on Saturday and Sunday.

It will be attended by some 80,000 festival-goers each day, making it the biggest metropolitan festival in the UK. It's the first time the huge music festival has taken place in June since 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement released through Parklife's Twitter account, Pink wrote: "Under doctors orders, I will not be able to perform at Parklife this weekend due to hearing difficulties.

"I and my team want to express regret and apologies in the tough decision of pulling out, it comes after efforts made to amend any health issues in time didn't prevail.

"I was so looking forward to delivering music to any new or existing audiences and I sincerely hope to be back on stage as soon as possible in time for summer, but to do that I need time to heal.

"Lots of love and sincere apologies again, Pink."

In 2021, Parklife had to move to a September time-slot due to the restrictions placed on the events industry as a consequence of Covid-19. This year, it takes place on June 11 and 12. On Saturday, gates to the festival site open at 11am and on Sunday an hour later at 12pm. The last entry into Heaton Park will be at 5pm.
