Ginuwine passed out during rehearsals for a dangerous stunt, which saw him attempting to hold his breath while submerged under water.
The R&B artist, 51, was said to have been trying to conquer his fear of being underwater while performing the magic trick for Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars in Las Vegas earlier this week.
For the stunt, the Pony singer was submerged under water in a glass cube while holding his breath.
He began to hit the sides of the tank to signal his distress and paramedics were reportedly called to the scene, with the musician being carried away unconscious.
Ginuwine, real name Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, is thought to have made a full recovery.
The songwriter was pulled out of the cube by staffers who attempted to calm him down before he ultimately passed out, as seen in a video obtained by the Daily Mail.
A source told the publication: "It all happened so fast, it was like he got tapped out in a fight.
"In the show he was trying to overcome his fear of being under water as he couldn’t hold his breath for longer than 15 seconds before trying the stunt out.
"Although he failed in rehearsals, he still went ahead with the stunt on the show and everyone was in tears."
The Mirror has contacted Ginuwine's representative for comment.
Criss posted a teaser for Magic With the Stars on Instagram on Tuesday and Ginuwine commented: "My folks." It’s unclear if the comment came before or after the accident.
Magic With the Stars is expected to premiere on October 22 and sees a host of celebrities train with Criss to create amazing magic performances. Criss will join Loni Love and magician Lance Burton as judges on the new show.
Comedian Eddie Griffin will host the show from the Criss Angel Theatre at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Las Vegas.
Celebrities appearing on the show include Donny Osmond, Frankie Muniz, Brec Bassinger, Debbie Gibson, Matt Walsh, Flavor Flav, Randy Couture, Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.
