Singapore will pay about $55,000 in support for each child; why the country is paying parents to have babies

Singapore has a problem that money alone has not been able to solve. People there are having fewer children. Now the country is trying a bigger, longer-term approach. Singapore will provide almost S$70,000 (around US$55,000 or roughly Rs 47 lakh) in direct financial support for every Singaporean child, from birth until the child turns 17.
