Sing 2 review: it won’t change your life but it’ll make you glad to be alive

There’s something a bit special about this franchise, the brainchild of Londoner Garth Jennings who, among other things, once directed a Blur video in which a feisty milk carton saves the day. Let’s just say, Sing was stuffed with poignant/cheeky surprises and this new film’s not short of them either.

Our ostensible hero is still theatre impresario Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey), a (some would say) pathologically optimistic koala, whose willingness to promise the moon to the wrong people will probably mean he ends up sleeping with the fishes. But that’s a problem for Sing 3!
