Simple phrase will get you free jacket potatos and Heinz Beanz

This October, following in the footsteps of founder Henry J. Heinz, Heinz is launching ‘ask for Henry’, in partnership with all 397 Morrisons cafés nationwide. Over 160,000 meals will be made available to the public from October 26, which will allow anyone who ‘asks for Henry’ at a Morrisons café during this time (and whilst stocks last) to receive a hot, hearty jacket potato topped with Heinz Beanz, for free.

The free meals are open to anyone, no questions asked, and Heinz hopes it will be of some help to families whose children are on half term – but also to anyone else who needs it. The initiative was inspired by the work of Henry J. Heinz, founder of Heinz and known philanthropist. From a young age, Henry would make food with his mother in their family kitchen, using ingredients picked from their garden, to share out to his local community. This young boy then went from good to great, founding Heinz and becoming one of the great benefactors of his time, and was often quoted as saying “give all you can wisely”.

So, Heinz is today honouring Henry’s legacy of kindness and goodwill by doing what he did best: helping to feed the nation when times are tough. If you need a free, warming meal in the coming weeks, simply ‘ask for Henry’ at your nearest Morrisons café from 26 October, and you will be given a free Heinz Beanz meal full of comfort, warmth and goodness.

Jojo De Noronha, President Northern Europe at Heinz said: “October marks the birthday of a very special member of the Heinz family, our founder Henry J. Heinz. Henry brought comfort and goodness to others, not just through his food but his actions. We want to honour his good heart and kind spirit by doing what he did best, helping feed people in times of need - and that’s why we’re launching ‘ask for Henry’ with our partner Morrisons on 26 October.

"We believe everyone deserves the goodness, comfort and warmth a can of Heinz Beanz can bring, and whilst we know it doesn’t fix the problem, we hope our ‘ask for Henry’ initiative can be of some help at this difficult time for many, particularly over half term.”

Sian Whittle, Category Director of Morrisons Cafés, said: “We know that our customers are under real financial pressure at the moment and are therefore pleased to be partnering with Heinz on its ‘ask for Henry’ initiative to offer customers a free jacket potato topped with Beanz.”

The donation is part of Heinz’s ongoing commitment to help with food poverty, which includes a long-term partnership with children’s charity Magic Breakfast, to whom they will also be donating 100,000 meals. This is on top of the 17 million+ meals they have donated to Magic Breakfast to help feed the 2.6 million children at risk of starting the day hungry in the UK.

If you need a free, warming meal, simply ‘ask for Henry’ at your nearest Morrisons café from 26 October, and you will be given a free Heinz Beanz and jacket potato with salad, until stocks last.
