Simone Biles is set to return to gymnastics competition from a two-year break after entering the US Classic in August.
The seven-time Olympic medalists’ name was among the list of registrants for the event in Chicago published by USA Gymnastics on Wednesday.
Biles, 26, has sat out top-level action since the delayed Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021, at which she withdrew from five of her six finals to focus on her mental health.
Her entry into the August 5 event suggests Biles, who won four gold medals in Rio in 2016, is planning a comeback ahead of the Paris Games next year.
“The current (registration) list includes 12 Olympic and 16 World Championships team roster members,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement.
“Together, they have won 60 Olympic and World Championships medals, with 12 from the Games and 48 from Worlds. Those tallies include a combined 46 World or Olympic medals earned by Biles (32), [Jade] Carey (8) and [Sunisa] Lee (6).”
