NEW DELHI: In a big decision on Tuesday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced the four-year doping ban initially imposed on Romanian tennis player Simona Halep to nine months. Importantly, these nine months have already been served by the former world number one.
Halep, aged 32, had received a four-year suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in September of the previous year. This decision was based on two separate doping infractions that occurred in the preceding year.
