Simon Jordan has dismissed Kieran Trippier's criticism of Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy due to his decision to sign for Newcastle United.
The former Atletico Madrid and Spurs full-back became the first signing of the new era at St James' Park, and captained the side for Friday's training match with Al-Ittihad in the absence of Jamaal Lascelles.
Trippier outlined his motivations for joining the Magpies in an extensive interview for the Athletic with club legend Alan Shearer, and was also asked for the reasons behind his Tottenham exit.

Having shone for England during their memorable run to the World Cup semi-final in 2018, the defender admits he struggled in the following months before departing for Atletico the following summer.
Trippier took aim at Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, insisting he knew he was not 'wanted' at the club after learning he was been offered to other sides during the closing stages of the season.
This criticism of Levy was discussed on talkSPORT's White and Jordan show on Friday, with reports indicating Antonio Conte's side are set to miss out on both Luis Diaz and Adama Traore.
Host Jim White and former Arsenal defender Martin Keown cited Trippier's comments on both his own departure and the 'baffling' decision to sell Mousa Dembele mid-season.
However, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan questioned the value of Trippier's comments after deciding to leave the La Liga champions for Newcastle earlier this month.
He told talkSPORT: "Kieran Trippier with due respect has gone and joined a football club because he's getting paid more money than the league champions of Spain.
"So I'm not really interested in what Kieran Trippier has to say about Daniel Levy."
It was not a view shared by Keown, who believed Trippier's interview with Shearer highlighted potential flaws in Tottenham's recent transfer strategy.
The pundit said: "It's interesting because when the likes of [Christian] Eriksen negotiate, it was all about the pressure on the player, he wants too much money.
"The only one they've really looked after is Harry Kane to be honest. Dembele was allowed to leave at a key moment in a season where they got to the Champions League final.
"Danny Rose was another player, they unsettled him. They did the same with Trippier, they got rid of Walker. He asked for a new deal and was sold for £50m.
"It's a business, they're commodities aren't they? You're made to feel that way at Spurs by Daniel Levy, aren't you?
"You're just a piece of meat at the end of the day. We can get the most money for you, off you go."
Jordan's view was also unsurprisingly criticised by Newcastle fans on social media.
One fan posted: "Weird opinion Simon. So because Trippier has moved clubs for more money, nearer family, for long-term project that has potential to be successful... his view isn't valid?"
Another supporter replied: "Funnily enough, we don't want to hear what Jordan has to say on the subject neither."
