Simon Jordan reckons Rangers ' dreary Champions League campaign is "indefensible" - and only made worse by Gio van Bronckhorst's excuses. And the shock jock pundit reckons he's just one Old Firm defeat away from losing his job.
The Ibrox side crashed out with no points and the worst goal difference ever recorded, suffering huge defeats to Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax. Van Bronckhorst has been quick to point to the financial disparity on show and he was backed to an extent by Ally McCoist on talkSPORT, who pointed out that Ajax were the third-best team in the group by a distance but still signed Calvin Bassey from Rangers for £19million in the summer.
But Jordan reckons that excuse only goes so far and slaughtered Van Bronckhorst for not owning up to what was a dismal Champions League showing. He insists what is really sickening fans is the manager's attempts to explain things away rather than call out his players for sub par performances.
He said: "I think Gio should have been stronger and called it what it was: not good enough. It's not good enough, it's a learning curve but it's as disappointing for us as it is for the fans.
"Rather than list off all the reasons it's not good enough – injuries, 24 games et cetera – nobody wants to hear that. It's mealy-mouthed and weak."
Jordan has some sympathy for Van Bronckhorst after he led the Ibrox side to the Europa League final last season but he now feels he's on a collision course which could all come to a head with another Old Firm defeat to rivals Celtic. He went on: "He's had 15 or 16 months. The tragedy is that he got them together, he got them a great prize because what they did in the Europa League was incredibly commendable.
"This campaign is diminishing in one respect because the players and the manager have accepted their fates and that's translated onto the pitch. Obviously they beat Aberdeen at the weekend, they were poor previously against Livingston but Aberdeen are no mugs and they've beaten them convincingly.
"The board will look at what he's done last year, look at the narrative being built up by the media, and the fans, and it will all come to a head if they get smashed by Celtic again in January."
