Simon Jordan makes 'unfathomable' Nottingham Forest comment after Leicester City rout

Pundits have been queuing up to heap praise on Nottingham Forest and Steve Cooper following the Reds’ stunning victory over Leicester City.

The Reds stormed into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a pulsating 4-1 victory over the holders at a raucous City Ground.

It was another demonstration that Forest are on the up under Cooper, who is also spearheading a Championship play-off challenge.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan said Forest were “irresistible” on talkSPORT today, adding it was about time that the club mounted a serious promotion challenge after 23 years outside the top flight.

"The boy [Djed] Spence looks like a proper, proper player. Cooper has got it going the right way,” said Jordan.

“It’s unfathomable that Forest haven’t even featured in the play-offs for 10 years. This is a European champion, a huge club with a wonderful fanbase.

“You’ve got to give credit where credit’s due, it was a fabulous game. The energy and vitality that Forest brought to the table, the fans and everything, it was a spectacle.”

Fellow pundit Danny Murphy has been impressed with the tactical acumen of Cooper.

“He’s impressive, isn’t he,” said the former Liverpool midfielder.

“The way they play, the variation of tactics. I’ve seen them play twice this season and they've played a different way both times.

“He seems to be getting the best out of the players. There’s great intensity.

“I like his demeanour, he’s calm, humble. After the game, you could see he was happy but there were no histrionics because he’s just that way.

“It’s working and he deserves great credit.”

Also on talkSPORT, Rangers legend Ally McCoist said: “I was at the Arsenal game. They’re a good team, they’re organised.

“I know they’ve lost a couple of league games, but some of their cup performances have been terrific.

“I didn’t see that one coming. I thought they were more than capable of getting a result against Leicester, but the magnitude of the result did surprise me.”
