Simon Cowell takes savage swipe at Strictly Come Dancing in talent show dig

Simon Cowell made a savage dig against a rival TV show after the first act of Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals. The famous judge decided to bash BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing.

As Simon and fellow judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli welcomed the show’s first act of the night, United 2 Dance, they all praised the kids for their impressive performance. But the brutally honest judge could not help but take a swipe.

Simon told the youngsters they were much better than the dance show Strictly, dubbing them “Strictly Better Dancing.” He went on to say it was “nice to have people who can actually dance on talent shows.”

This year’s series of BGT has seen a whole host of talented acts perform. From singers to dancers, daredevils and magicians - the competition is more fierce than ever. Monday's show is the first of five live semi-final shows - where the public will vote for two acts to go through to the final.

  • Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals air on ITV1 and ITVX every night this week at 8pm.
