It seems that Simon Cowell ’s long-time pal Sinitta is set to miss his big day.
The pair have been mates for 36 years since the So Macho singer became the pop mogul’s first signing in 1986.
Simon, 62, is due to tie the knot with American socialite Lauren Silverman, 44, next month. But Sinitta, 58, has let slip that she won’t be at the wedding – because she will be on tour with the musical Chicago.
She is starring as Matron Mama Morton at the Grand Opera House in Belfast from June 6 to 11, before a stint in Plymouth from June 14 to 18.
She hinted that Simon and Lauren’s nuptials will be during the earlier dates, joking that she will send them an Irish-themed gift.
Sinitta famously appeared scantily clad on The X Factor with Simon for the Judge’s Houses segment wearing only a fig leaf. She says: “I’ll send him the lucky Irish leaf – I’ll send him a shamrock from Louis (Walsh).”
Sinitta has been involved with the stage show since last year and will take her last bow in Wales in July.
She says: “The tour has been going since September, and I was supposed to do the first three months, but I ended up staying for six because they invited me to because it went really well.
“And then I left in January and the tour continued and now I’m just coming back for Belfast, Plymouth and Llandudno, so I will finish the last week of the tour as well, which is great fun, so I’m starting and finishing it!”
Sinitta has been rotating the role with Sheila Ferguson and everyone’s favourite diva – TOWIE star Gemma Collins. She gushes: “Well, I went to the show on Friday in Wimbledon to see Sheila Ferguson, who’s a good friend of my mother’s. In fact, my mother was in The Three Degrees with her when one of the other girls left.
“And then I’m also going to travel to Oxford to see the GC – because I’ve got to see the GC! She’s a reality show diva, and I’d say that I’m a pop diva!”
Other stars in the production include former Corrie actor Faye Brookes as Roxie Hart with Russell Watson and Denise van Outen’s ex Lee Mead juggling the part of hotshot lawyer Billy Flynn.
Sinitta also reveals that she’s set to bring out fresh songs this year, saying: “I’ve been in the studio recording some new music and I’m going to be performing at some of the Pride and music festivals around the country.
“I’m also working on a docu-series about growing up in the Eighties, and it’s going to feature all of my music.”
Simon said recently that he was organising an intimate celebration himself and would shun “ghastly wedding planners”.
He even claimed he was keeping the date a surprise from Lauren – but it looks like Sinitta has let the cat out of the bag.
