Simon Cowell 'lands £90 million payday' after securing new franchise deal

Simon Cowell is said to have bagged a further £90 million after securing a franchise deal.

It takes his reported net worth to £390 million as he continues his lavish lifestyle on both sides of the Atlantic.

The record executive, 62, has reportedly secured the future of the hugely successful Got Talent series, which are shown across the globe.

To date, the Got Talent franchise airs in 69 countries and its popularity is said to have meant an investment bank is prepared to give him the cash figure up front, reports The Sun.

The deal - the first of its kind - comes after Simon let go of almost all of his Syco staff earlier this year in a bid to focus on his family.

In insider told the publication: "Simon’s decision will give him more time to concentrate on what he enjoys.

"As well as spending time with his family, he loves BGT and its US counterpart America’s Got Talent and he would like to continue appearing on those, being in front of the camera, for years to come.

"This deal means he will continue to make a fortune from the other versions of Got Talent in countries around the globe."

As well as the franchise, Simon is said to be working on a a top-secret music project pals have called “game changing.”

Speaking to The Mirror, Simon himself would only say: "I am getting back in the music business with something I’m going to announce soon."

He is also said to be working on a new show stateside called 50 States of Stardom. The project is described as a “mix of music competition and documentary to discover America’s next greatest talent".

His busy work schedule comes as he prepares to tie the knot with fiancee Lauren Silverman. The pair, who share son Eric, 8, announced their engagement in January having been together since 2013.

Simon revealed the wedding plans come as it's "the right thing to do" for their son as he gets older.

Speaking to The Sun earlier this month he said: "For Eric, as he gets older, he will be asked more and more about his parents, and I thought it was the right thing to do for him.

"I also just couldn’t see myself ever dating anyone again. The idea of going out on a first date now is too weird."

The Mirror has contacted representatives of Simon for comment.
