Simon Calder had a 'critical' warning to anyone planning to jet off this Christmas, advising people not to wrap any presents, should they be planning on packing them in their hand luggage.
Simon has been a regular on TV screens over the last few years, with countless appearances on This Morning during the Covid pandemic and when things opened up again, giving viewers updates on the latest vaccine requirements, the colour zones for popular holiday destinations and the cheapest deals to take advantage of.
He appeared as a guest on ITV's Lorraine on Thursday morning, joining stand-in presenter Ranvir Singh in the studio, to talk about the potential 'travel chaos' that lies ahead for Brits in the comings days as we hurtle towards Christmas. He addressed the 'lottery' on the trains, with services cut and ticket holders forced to take different trains to the ones they'd booked for and also informed people watching at home, that the latest advice was bot to use trains on Christmas Eve, as many services will be finishing earlier than anticipated.

He then moved onto talk about air travel and it was then that he was quick to point out a big rule for those catching flights to join friends and families overseas or elsewhere in the UK. As well as reminding viewers, that whilst there have been reports that the 100ml limit on liquids will soon be dropped, it is still very much in force, he moved onto say: "Critically, make sure you haven't wrapped any presents."
As host Ranvir looked shocked at his remark, Simon added: "I used to work on security at Gatwick and if you come along with all your presents wrapped up in your cabin baggage, I might have to come along and undo all your careful wrapping and have a look inside."
Ranvir exclaimed: "No! I didn't know that," with Simon replying: "Please don't wrap your presents before if you're putting them in your cabin baggage."
