Now, if you’ve been reading our articles for a while, you’ll know we love a good mattress deal, especially when it’s Simba related. So, when the chance came to test out the highly-rated Simba Hybrid Pro mattress, I practically jumped out of bed at the opportunity.
The Simba Hybrid Pro, which was named the brand’s “most advanced mattress ever” back in 2020 when it was released, boasts an impressive seven-layers of foam which sets it apart from the brand’s regular Hybrid mattress which offers just five.
Among the seven-layers are two unique titanium Aerocoil spring-comfort layers which provide superb support as well as an additional wool layer for better temperature regulation, so you'll never be too hot or cold during the night.
The Hybrid Pro is perfect for someone looking for a mattress filled with impressive tech without having to fork out a fortune for a great night’s sleep.
If you are looking to up your mattress game even further and your budget is slightly higher, we'd suggest opting for the Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress, which boasts a whopping 10-layers - but prices start at £947.40, instead of the Hybrid Pro which starts at a more affordable £695 after the 40% off discount.
One thing to note is that Simba are well-known for their discount codes and deals all year round, so you should never have to pay full price. In fact, they’re some of the best cheap mattress deals around - and there’s up to 40% off all mattresses and up to 55% off accessories and bed frames as we speak. Plus, with you'll receive a free mattress topper with all mattress purchases at Simba right now.
We've also put together a list of the best mattresses for 2022 including memory foam, pocket sprung and hybrid options.
What is the difference between Simba Hybrid and Simba Hybrid Pro?
The extra layer of wool isn't all that separates the Pro from the regular Simba Hybrid. It also has a thicker top cover that acts as a sleeping surface and two layers of micro springs beneath its open-cell foam layer.
What is the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress made of?
The Simba Hybrid Pro mattress comprises seven distinct layers that are specially engineered for a comfortable night’s sleep. These are:
- Breathable sleep surface: With up to 500g of super soft, hand-knitted goodness, Simba's hypoallergenic sleep surface keeps your mattress fresh and cool.
- Hypoallergenic wool layer: Soft wool adds an extra anti-allergy layer, and keeps you warm or cool depending on the season.
- Simbatex foam layer: Unique ‘open cell’, graphite-infused foam is designed to tackle overheating, with thirty times the airflow of memory foam, while also layering on the comfort.
- Two Aerocoil spring-comfrot layers: Over 5,000 of these ingenious cone-shaped springs offer superior body support and increased airflow through your mattress.
- Edge support: Edge Lift Technology means that you’ll feel supported wherever you decide to lie on your mattress, with no rolling off or dipping at the sides.
- Multi-zoned foam base: There’s nine separate support zones to make sure the base adjusts as you move, keeping your body in perfect, sleep-inducing alignment.
Does the Simba Hybrid Pro come with a trial period?
To help you sleep easier at night, Simba not only offers a generous 200-day trial to see if your new mattress is right for you, but there’s also a 10 year guarantee to give you complete peace of mind.
The trial period matches Emma’s which also gives customers 200 days to decide whereas OTTY Sleep and Tempur only give their customers 100 days. The 10 year guarantee means that if your mattress fails within that period due to manufacturing defects, Simba will exchange it for a brand new one - how good is that?
Simba Hybrid Pro Review
Delivery:
Score: 4 out of 5
As expected, my Simba mattress arrived vacuum packed into a relatively small and compact box. Considering I ordered the King, I was actually expecting the box to be much bigger, so I was delighted to see how easily it fit through my door. Although one thing I would say is that it's pretty heavy.
Due to the weight, if you’re moving the mattress I suggest getting someone to help you as it’s a tricky task for just one person.
Once I opened the box, I was met with thick plastic covering the mattress from head to toe. Although the plastic is great for protection, it wasn’t the easiest to tear through, especially as it didn’t come with a special tool like other mattresses I’ve received in the past. I opted for a large pair of scissors but, as it was tricky to differentiate the mattress and plastic, I’d do this with caution.
After I got the mattress out and onto a large, flat surface I was surprised to see how much it expanded straight away. The mattress looked a little out of shape, but that was expected seeing as it had been tightly packed into a box.
Simba recommends waiting up to 72 hours for your mattress to fully rise, but if you can’t wait that long, the brand said it can be ready to sleep on in as little as three to six hours after unboxing - however, it can continue to expand, so don't be surprised if it seems fuller after a couple of days.
The mattress has a familiar ‘new mattress’ smell, which wasn't great but only lasted about 3-4 days and then completely disappeared. One of the things I love is that there are four thick handles on either side of the mattress which is extremely useful when moving it onto the bed.
Design & comfort:
Score: 5 out of 5
Now that it was fully plumped and on the bed, the time came to test it out - and to be honest, I was ready for a good night's sleep after all that heavy lifting.
Ok, so I did the whole arms in the air and jumping onto the mattress backwards spiel which just has to be done when getting a new bed - and what I fell into was pure bliss.
The standout feature of the Hybrid Pro for me is how much the mattress lifts you up compared with the foam found in the top layer of most hybrid mattresses. I found there was much less of a sinking feeling, however it still provides that body-hugging feel of memory foam.
Simba rates the Hybrid Pro as a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, and I'd say that feels about right to me. The support and firmness comes from the 5,000 titanium Aerocoil springs which span across two layers, and the softness comes from the 'super-soft' breathable top layer and 'Simba-Pure' foam with edge support - perfect for side sleepers.
When it comes to airflow and heat management, it gets a big thumbs up from me. The open-cell foam layer is infused with graphite to provide extra temperature regulation and the cover is soft and breathable, adding even more cooling properties - so you can say goodbye to those hot sweats.
Both my partner and I slept well the first night but felt the mattress really came into its own a week or so later once we'd gotten used to it.
What you need to know:
Given the two extra layers, the Simba Hybrid Pro is 30mm thicker than the regular Simba Mattress, making it 280mm thick in total, which is suitable for most fitted sheets. The only issue is that the top cover of the Pro isn't removable, so it would be wise to invest in a mattress protector too. We recommend investing in Simba's own one for the best results. It's worth noting that with just a sheet on, you can feel the little bumps which feature on the top of the mattress.

How much is a Simba mattress?
Depending on the size of mattress you opt for, the Simba Hybrid Pro costs £300-350 more than the equivalent original Simba Hybrid. But, with that being said, there's always some great deals to be had and at the moment, there's a whopping 40% off.
As it currently stands, after the 40% discount the Pro will set you back:
- £695.40 for a UK Single
£959.40 for a UK Small Double
£959.40 for a UK Double
- £1,049.40 for a UK King
- £1,097.40 for a UK Super King.
For comparison, the cost of a Premium hybrid double mattress from Eve is currently £659 with 40% off, a double hybrid from Emma costs £907 and a double hybrid mattress from Nectar costs £1,199.
If you mind spending a little more and prefer something a little firmer, we'd suggest going for the Simba Hybrid Luxe. Now, we're yet to test this one out, but customers praise it for its firmness and superior cooling properties. Prices for this model start at £947.40 for a Single, and range up to £1,439.40 for a King.
Is the Simba mattress good for back pain?
Having never experienced back problems myself, I can’t really give first-hand experience, however, more than 8000 people have left reviews on the website to say that the Simba mattress has improved their back pain.
One happy customer said: “My new mattress has completely changed how I sleep. I don’t wake up with aches or pains anymore and have unbroken sleep throughout the night.”
While a second said: “Just bought our second simba mattress we have one for spare room and main bedroom now. My back issues have gone since purchasing the mattress, would recommend to back sufferers.”

Should you buy the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress?
After several months of testing, I'm seriously impressed with the balance of comfort and support the mattress offers. The excellent temperature control is also a huge bonus - especially if you're prone to overheating in the night.
Personally, I'm not a fan of that 'sinking' feeling (if you've ever sat on a Temper mattress, that's what I'm talking about), so to find a mattress which is made with memory foam, yet offers the perfect amount of firmness whilst still supporting your body's natural shape just has to be awarded with a strong five out of five rating.
One issue we would highlight is that Simba doesn't offer any firmness variability so if you are looking to pick, we'd suggest the Brook + Wilde Lux which is available in soft, medium and firm variants. However, Simba's generous 200-day trial is a real advantage here as it means you can give it a really good test before committing.
FAQs
Is Simba Pro good for side sleepers?
Thanks to the marriage of pocket springs and soft wool in the top layers, this mattress is a great choice for people who sleep on their side. The wool cradles the hips and shoulders, relieving pressure where side sleepers need it the most, while the springs align and support the spine.
For more options, check out our 12 best mattresses for side sleepers here.
Are Simba mattresses cooling?
All Simba mattresses contain a layer of the brands specifically developed cooling foam, Simbatex. It has an open-cell structure which keeps you cool by encouraging air flow through the mattress, and uses graphite particles to filter heat away.
Which is softer; Simba Hybrid or the Pro?
Similar to the Simba Hybrid, the Pro is also a medium-firm in feel, however because of the dual spring layers and wool layer the Pro provides a slightly softer, plusher, more luxurious feel.
Both mattresses incorporate a zoned support base that provides different levels of support to your hips and shoulders, a layer of high definition foam with edge support, and an open-cell foam layer that sits directly under the top comfort layer.
How firm is the Simba hybrid pro mattress?
The Simba Hybrid Pro is a medium-firm mattress - though we'd rate it as slightly on the firmer end of the scale. We've given it a 6.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest.
Compared to the Simba Hybrid, this model is more plush and luxurious, mainly thanks to the softness of the cover and the wool in the comfort layer.
Nevertheless, the denser foam and pocket springs in the core give the Simba Hybrid Pro the support and responsiveness to suit most sleepers.
