T'PURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday. There is speculation that the CM is meeting Modi to seek clearance for the SilverLine project.
The Centre has given its approval only for conducting the social impact study in connection with the project. Though the state government had submitted the detailed project report to the Centre, the Union railway ministry has sought certain clarifications on the report. The project is yet to get clearance from the finance and environment ministries as well. Hence, in the meeting with PM Modi, the CM will be seeking the PM's intervention for the speedy approval for the project.
During his last meeting with Modi in July last year too Vijayan had made a request for the speedy clearance for the project. The CM will be staying in New Delhi till Sunday for CPM central committee meeting scheduled from Friday to Sunday. He has also sought time to meet the Union finance and railway ministers. During his meeting with the ministers, the CM is also expected to take up several issues including divestment of HLL Lifecare Ltd.
