A violent crime took place at a Sikh household in Ontario's London neighborhood which the police characterized as femicide resulting from an intimate partner violence incident. The incident took place on September 15 at a home on Chelton Road in the Summerside neighborhood. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Raman Devi, a mother of two, suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died. Police have charged 41-year-old Mandee Singh, her husband, with second-degree murder.

Shocking details revealed by neighbors
Neighbors told CBC News that they saw Raman Devi's mother frantically exiting the house with the children before police arrived. "We saw an old lady coming out shouting and hitting herself, with two [children]," said Sam Awdi, who lives across the street. "I feel bad. I've been in this city 40 years but never saw something like that, honestly," he said.
Raman Devi was taking a massage therapy program and the incident shook her mates, the London Free Press reported.
Sandra Sanchez, one of Devi’s classmates, launched an online fundraiser. “Her presence brought love and joy to those around her, and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts,” Sanchez wrote. “Above all, she was a loving mother, her children were her world, and her family meant everything to her. Losing a mother is an unimaginable loss, especially for her children, who now have to face a future without her by their side.”
Gurdwara London Sikh Society too set up a fundraiser for Devi. "The loss of a mother is an unimaginable pain. For Raman Devi's young children, this loss is especially heartbreaking, as they must now face the years ahead without their mother’s love, care, guidance, and comforting presence. No child should have to experience such a profound loss at such a young age," their fundraiser said.
