Douglas Luiz could be Arsenal's final signing of the summer should Edu manage to overcome the two bids which have already been rejected by Aston Villa.
However, former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell has said on Sky Sports News' deadline day coverage that the Gunners should be making a move to sign long-term target Youri Tielemans in addition to the Brazilian given the club's current injury situation. Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are both currently out with injuries and leave space in the Gunners' midfield which could be filled by Luiz or Tielemans.
As has been reported throughout the day, Luiz has his heart set on a move to Arsenal but there is still some way to go in terms of sealing the defensive midfielder's signature. According to Fabrizio Romano, personal terms have been agreed for the 24-year-old but Villa are pushing for a higher fee for the player.

However, with just hours remaining in the window, former Everton and Arsenal striker Campbell said Arsenal should go out and sign both Luiz and Tielemans: "Go sign them both. No messing about. Go and sign them both because do you know what, Arsenal’s midfield is the weak position at the football club.
"They’re a bit bare in midfield. Douglas Luiz will be a good signing, Mikel Arteta’s worked with him in the past. He even got a goal at the Emirates Stadium so he can feel at home. Aston Villa saying he’s not going anywhere but a player with a year left on his contract, the best thing for the club, they've brought in Dendoncker, the best thing for Aston Villa is to sell him to Arsenal."
He was joined on Sky's deadline day coverage by former Villa and Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given who also gave his view on the midfield pair who have been linked to Arsenal. He said: "It’s a toss up isn’t it. It’s amazing what’s happened at Leicester, selling all their best players and not getting replacements - I know they have signed a guy today.
"It’s a shame because I like Brendan Rodgers as a coach; the rug's been pulled from under his feet, his best players being sold and for Tielemans to go for £20million to £25million, I’m surprised there’s not a few looking at him. He’s a top player."
