Sienna Miller has opened up about feeling disappointed in her relationships in her 30s, after wanting to be married with children at the time, in a new interview with British Vogue.

The actress, 40, spoke of how she was left with “lots of anxiety” during those years, as her hopes of getting married and having a family ended with each failed romance.

Miller appears in the December issue of British Vogue, celebrating stars who have emerged as forces of both fashion and TV in 2022.

The actress told the publication: “There was a lot of anxiety. Relationships hadn’t worked out – I imagined that I would be married with three kids, being a great mum. I love being a mother. It’s what I do best.”

Miller shares 10-year old daughter Marlowe with her ex, actor Tom Sturridge. The pair were in a relationship between 2011 and 2015.

The Anatomy of a Scandal star came close to marriage in 2004, as she was famously engaged to Jude Law before dating Sturridge, 36.

The pair didn’t make it down the aisle however, as the next year, Law, 49, was exposed for having an affair with his children’s nanny.

Miller called one ex a “hole of a person”, in her latest interview, as she said: “I’d invested what felt like the important years in something that was just a bucket with a hole in it of a person. I wasted time. And I felt like time was really my currency.”

Miller is currently dating 25-year-old model Oli Green. She addressed the age-gap between them as she told British Vogue: “There’s a misogyny that is ingrained in men of my age and older that I don’t see in [the] generation below”.

The actress said that she is “really happy” for ex Sturridge while also acknowledging his relationship with fashion designer Alexa Chung, as she shared that her daughter “comes home with Alexa’s jumpers that I steal”.

Elsewhere in the interview, Miller reflected on co-parenting with Sturridge during lockdown in unconventional circumstances, a the pair stayed with each other and their partners at the time in Upstate New York.

The actress said: “I had my then boyfriend. And Tom’s then girlfriend came and...it was definitely eccentric. I can’t go into detail but the wheels came off and everything went horribly wrong…it will make a fantastic play.”

Miller turned 40 this July, and spoke of being “excited” to reach the landmark age in the celebratory issue of British Vogue.

She said: “As a young woman I was so trivialised and so insubstantial-seeming, but there’s very little that anyone can say to a 40-year-old woman. And I also don’t give a f***.

“It was such a headline in my life – what people thought of me. It was so loud that I believed it. Now I’ve got to a point where it’s absolutely none of your business.”
