MYSURU: Opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s close aide and former minister HC Mahadevappa on Friday said that Siddaramaiah will have a dinner meeting with disgruntled Congress MLC CM Ibrahim to placate him.
Speaking to reporters, Mahadevappa said, following the directions from former CM Siddaramaiah, he had met the MLC earlier this week.
“Ibrahim is hurt and disappointed. I have requested him to join hands to fight forces which are threatening democracy and the Constitution. Ibrahim has accepted my request. As he has assured that he won’t take any hasty decisions, I hope that he will not leave Congress party,” he said.
However, Ibrahim has indicated that he could join JD(S). Speaking to reporters in Mandya, the Congress legislator said it is important to strengthen the hands of former PM HD Deve Gowda in his fight for the issues related to Karnataka. “We have worked together earlier,” he said even as he added that Siddaramaiah is welcome to visit him at his house and have dinner with him.
“My house is always open like a dasoha bhavan,” he stated.
“Top party leaders from New Delhi have invited me for the talks. I would take a decision after discussing it with my followers,” he said.
Slams KSE’s saffron flag remark
Slamming BJP minister KS Eshwarappa over his remark on hoisting saffron flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi, former minister HC Mahadevappa said that the Governor must remove him from the Cabinet.
“As Eshwarappa has insulted and disrespected the national flag by stating that the saffron flag will be hoisted at Red Fort, he should be considered as anti-national and should be removed from the post,” he said.
