Sian Welby has announced that she is pregnant with her first child.
The radio and TV presenter, 37, shared her exciting news that she and radio producer fiancé Jake Beckett are expecting live during Tuesday's Capital Breakfast Show.
Welby said: “I’ve got a bit of an announcement for you! I’m pregnant! I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it from you for so long.
“The lies, the deceit, the mocktails! I couldn’t wait to tell you. This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all on it with me, and don't worry I'm not going anywhere! This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”
Her shocked co-hosts were were thrilled for her, with Roman Kemp responding: “Oh my god! Oh mate I’m so happy for you and Jake as well!”
Chris Stark seemed unsure if it was an early April Fools, checking: “Is this real? It is the most exciting news ever!”
The Nottingham-born star then confirmed that it was indeed true and not a wind up, by sharing a selection of pictures capturing her journey to motherhood so far on Instagram.
"We have some news," she captioned her post, and added: "We're having a baby."
Welby and Beckett have been together for four years and got engaged last August. Her other half is a producer on rival station Heart's breakfast show starring Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden.
She will be taking a break from her radio presenting duties over the summer but will the return to Capital Breakfast with Stark and Kemp’s recently confirmed replacement Jordan North.
Welby was recently touted as a potential permanent replacement for Holly Willoughby on ITV’s This Morning after impressing with a temporary stint.
She ultimately lost out to Cat Deeley who was named last week alongside Ben Shephard.
