Siam Sinfonietta under the baton of Somtow Sucharitkul will return to the Ballroom of Banyan Tree Bangkok for a performance of Mahler's Symphony No.4 on Sunday starting at 7.30pm.

This is the third season of the youth orchestra's renowned concerts at the hotel which combine an intimate ambience with top-notch musical performances. In the past, they brought Beethoven and Schumann symphonies, Monteverdi and Haydn choral works, and their renowned candlelight carol concert.

For the upcoming show, they will perform Mahler's romantic and heavenly Fourth Symphony, along with soprano Nadlada Thamtanakom, a Thai opera singer from the Flanders Opera in Belgium.

Hailed as the most approachable and melodious of the master's 11 symphonic works, the Fourth Symphony is a childlike exploration of natural beauty and heavenly wonders.

The first movement harkens back to Mozart in its elegance and deceptive simplicity. The second shows us Death as a gypsy violinist. The third movement is one of Mahler's most gorgeous pieces while the final song, A Child's Vision Of Heaven, is both innocent and ironic.

A few encores will also be performed to send audiences home in a mood of triumph.

Tickets cost 900 baht and can be purchased from ticketmelon.com/operasiam/mahlerbanyan.
