Shrek appears in Ayrshire park with fairytale characters set for new kids attraction

Shrek has appeared in an Ayrshire park.

The favourite green ogre has leapt out of his swamp to set up camp at Rozelle Park in Ayr.

A stunning sculpture of the hit character from the Dreamworks film is one of many new famous faces set to prop up.

The willow statue is the work of iconic Girvan artist David Powell who is an expert in weaving and recreated the icon.

A stunning Captain Hook sculpture has landed at Rozelle (South Ayrshire Council)

Shrek will be one of 11 sculptures which are set to appear around the park as part of Winterland - an exciting new family attraction.

Fairytale favourites Captain Hook, and Rupert The Bear have also made an appearance, with more set to follow.

David is a self-taught weaver whose work has appeared as permanent features in schools, gardens, parks events and even homes.

Each creation to Rozelle is set to have a link to Scotland and will be found along a pathway for children and families to explore.

Previous work includes a stunning red stag at Alloway children's respite charity Whiteleys Retreat and a sculpture of Burns iconic character Tam O'Shanter.
