A series of three features based on the life of renowned electrical engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla is currently in the works at Showdog Studio. The project will be co-written by Tim Eaton, a seasoned visual effects expert with an impressive resume that includes work on films like 'Men in Black,' 'Twister,' and 'Beowulf.'
Showdog Studio has secured the rights to the 1996 biography 'Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla' and the 2021 biography 'Tesla: Wizard at War,' along with additional research material provided by the author of both books, Marc J. Seifer. In addition, the studio has gained access to a collection of Tesla's personal letters and artifacts.
John Attard, the founder of Showdog, expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Marc and Tim on this project, emphasizing the relevance of Tesla's story in today's tech-driven world. Attard and Showdog executive Robert Harris will take on the roles of executive producers for the trilogy.
Robert Harris highlighted the misconception surrounding the name 'Tesla' in modern times, often associated with the automotive company rather than the pioneering inventor. He stressed the importance of shedding light on Tesla's significant contributions to shaping the future, while also delving into the personal struggles and sacrifices he faced as a brilliant yet complex individual.
The project aims to explore the theme of genius and its consequences in a world where technology can be both a tool for progress and a source of exploitation. With Tesla's multifaceted career and tumultuous life providing a rich tapestry of narratives, the trilogy promises to offer a compelling portrayal of an extraordinary figure whose legacy continues to resonate in today's society.
