BENGALURU: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai criticised Congress functionaries on Thursday, saying they must provide evidence before suggesting cabinet colleague and higher education minister CN Ashwath Narayan is culpable in the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruitment scam.
“The opposition party must be responsible and must provide proof for their allegations,” Bommai told reporters two days after Congress accused Narayan and his brother of being involved in irregularities. Congress has also demanded a judicial probe to get to the truth. “Congress is trying to hit and run, but they will not be successful,” Bommai said. “During their tenure, there were several cases of question paper leaks and malpractice in various exams including PSI and PUC (class 12), but they never took any action. We are taking action. Some Congress functionaries have been arrested [in the PSI scam] so they are worried their true colours will be exposed. ”
