There were more than a few jokes going around the NBA media sphere on Friday night after it had been revealed star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown would not play for the rest of the 2022-23 regular season. The former Cal standout is sitting out as a result of slicing his hand open on a broken vase.
But after the metaphorical dust settled on his heavily bandaged hand, some analysts began to question whether Brown’s account of how his injury happened was an entirely honest one. More importantly, questions arose whether he was would be affected on the court despite the official team assessment that he should be ready for the start of the playoffs.
