Should Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak resign after being given lockdown fines - have your say

The Met Police have confirmed that the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, will both be fined for breaching Covid-19 regulations.

Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak are among those issued with fixed penalty notices following allegations earlier in the year of lockdown parties in Downing Street and Whitehall.

A historic first, this is the only time a sitting British Prime Minister has been found to have broken the law. It is also the first time a Chancellor has been found to have broken the law. Boris Johnson's wife, Carrie Johnson, has also been issued with a fine - another historic first.

There are fresh calls for the PM and his Chancellor to resign, having both broken the law and allegedly misleading Parliament over the gatherings which took place during UK lockdowns. Labour, the Lib Dems and the SNP have called on them both to go as 'Partygate' continues to pile mounting pressure on the Government.

However, as tensions escalate in Eastern Europe over the Russian invasion on Ukraine, some people believe now is not the time to unseat the PM and the Chancellor from high office. Some think that the scandal will blow over and both Boris and Rishi will continue in the job.
