We've all been tempted to trot down the local shops whenever there's an offer on. But the last thing anyone expects to see browsing the aisles down their nearest supermarket is a bargain hunter of the four-legged variety.
But that's exactly what greeted customers down at the Pengam Green branch of Tesco in Cardiff recently. A black and white pony was spotted nonchalantly wandering around the store for several minutes, during which time it was both filmed and photographed by bemused bystanders.
Fittingly, the curious creature was snapped by members from local animal charity called The Healthy Horse Project, who just happened to be in the building buying their groceries at the same time. Although, strangely, the pony had forgone a canter down by the carrots to nose around the baby food section instead.

Nevertheless, after a while it was escorted back out by security, leaving many to wonder where it had come from. A few also pondered how it had managed to get into the store undetected in the first place.
"Probably made its way over from Rover Way," said one person on Facebook, while another added that it had wandered over from "the fields behind Tesco."
"How did it make it that far into the shop, LOL," said a third. "Needed some shower gel by the looks of it."
"Obviously heading for the cough medicines as it was feeling a little horse," posted someone else. To find out more about The Healthy Horse Project, which supported by Tesco, click here.
