When it comes to setting spray, people fall into one of two categories. You either swear by it for keeping your makeup in place all day - or you consider it a gimmick. Those in the latter group, I regret to tell you, are probably just using mists that simply aren’t all that.
There are a number of go-to brands when it comes to setting sprays, such as the Milk Hydro Grip, Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless and Urban Decay All Nighter ranking in our top three.
But Beauty Bay shoppers say they’ve found a makeup finishing spray that’s ‘better’ than the cult-loved Urban Decay option, and survives weddings, gym sessions and even eight hours sleep.
With 200 reviews on the Beauty Bay website, the Skindinavia makeup finishing spray bridal is the highest rated setting spray on the cosmetics company’s site, beating Urban Decay, which has 171 ratings.
Designed for all skin types, the bridal spray is made to make makeup last, control shine and leave skin photo-ready for up to 16 hours. It’s also dubbed as ‘cry, oil and sweat-proof’, which is why it’s the ultimate choice for 2023 brides, or those attending weddings this summer.
It comes in three different sizes, starting at £9 for a handy clutch-friendly 20ml spritz , with 118ml coming in at £21.50, while the supersize 236ml is currently on offer down from £32.50 to £29.25.
Customers who tried it have left glowing reviews, with more than 150 five star ratings compared to four one-star, with one saying her liquid liner remained untouched after accidentally sleeping in it. One said: “Your makeup will not budge! Always thought all setting sprays are the same but this actually did what it's supposed to do!”
Another wrote: “So. Like a complete scruff I slept in my make up after a night out (gross I know). Hadn’t realised how good this setting spray was until the next morning.......my winged eyeliner was still intact!!!! I couldn’t believe it. I knew it was good because my make up lasts all day.”
A third said: “Getting married in august next year so thought I’d try this out beforehand and it is brilliant!! Definitely worth it for my oily combo skin.”
Shoppers say it’s a ‘dupe’ for the Urban Decay All Nighter, with one writing: “Best setting spray so far! Before I always used to use urban d - this one is much better!” Another added: “It's a dupe for the urban decay all nighter setting spray!”
“I use to use the urban decay spray but changed to this,” wrote a third. “I use it after skincare as a primer and then after my makeup is completed. I used to think that setting sprays were a gimmick but I went to the gym for an hour and a half and nothing budged. I was surprised and it has now made me swear by this product!”
It begs the question - why is this lesser-know brand such a close rival to Urban Decay? Well, on the Skindinavia website, under FAQ’s, one of the most asked questions reads: Does Skindinavia make Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray?
The brand explained: “Skindinavia has had a long-standing product development partnership with Urban Decay. That is the key reason that you’ll see our name on the side of the bottle. Each brand has its own custom, proprietary formulas.”
With 30ml of the All Nighter coming in at £15 at Boots , and 20ml of Skindinavia costing £9, the latter works out cheaper - but reviews say the results match, or are even better than the well known brand.
So if you want to try it out for yourself to ensure flawless makeup all day this summer, you can shop the Skindinavia range here on Beauty Bay.
