Shoppers were left shocked after easter eggs were pictured on supermarket shelves as early as Boxing Day. Brits across the country still have plenty of leftover Christmas chocolates to eat as they unwind from the busy festive period, but some supermarket chains already selling Easter eggs - three and a half months early.
Morrisons, Tesco, and Co-op have caused a uproar among customers after they began stocking their shelves with Easter eggs on December 26, reports the Mirror.
With millions of people venturing to shopping centres and supermarkets for some post-Christmas sales, customers were left shocked when some of the biggest supermarket retailers had stocked their shelves with Easter eggs. Easter Sunday in 2023 lands on April 9, some 103 days away.

Aisles were found to be laden with Mini Eggs, Lindt and Cadbury bunnies and Galaxy caramel eggs, while at the retailer's Canterbury store shelves were stuffed with Malteser bunnies, Cadbury eggs and even a large Creme Egg display - with a 2 for £1 deal on offer.
Writing on Twitter, one customer shared a photo of a Terry's chocolate orange and wrote: "Don't worry folks! To make sure you don't miss the next big event, shops have started stocking easter treats and goodies. "Nice one @Morrisons. We were beginning to panic that you'd forgotten!"
A second person, with a photo of an shelf full of Easter treats, said: "There you go people, Morrisons selling Easter eggs on boxing day."
One person joked: "Morrisons having their Easter eggs out today really has made my day," with another adding: "Morrisons in Neath starting early with the Easter chocolate race..."
"What has the world come to?" another shopper bemoaned. "Went into a local supermarket today (December 26th, Boxing Day) to see the F***ing Easter Egg’s out already…[sic]".
The criticism was not limited to only Morrisons as fellow retailers Co-op and Tesco were also guilty of lining their stores with Easter goodies. One upset Twitter user said: "I hear Tesco has Easter eggs on the shelf… does anyone want to go and destroy them?"
Another added: "It's literally Boxing Day and already I've seen a Co-Op selling Mini Eggs. Happy Easter everyone."
