Shoppers hail 'game changer' blanket that keeps heating off and helps with anxiety

People have been turning to weighted blankets to help ease the January blues, with several versions of the product reduced in this month's post-festive sales.

As people aim to stay warm and reduce the need for heating during the cost of living crisis, big blankets are the way to go, reports Manchester Evening News. Heated blankets, big throws and Oodie-style blankets are good ways to keep warm on a budget.

However the weighted blanket, which can be as heavy as seven kilograms, not only keeps you warm but has been described as a "game changer" for people with anxiety and sleep issues.

Even the celebrities have been dabbling in weighted blankets, as actress Jennifer Lawrence famously added a Silentnight version of a weighted blanket to her wedding gift list when she married her husband Cooke Maroney. Kourtney Kardashian has also previously confirmed that she uses one.

Weighted blankets used to be a niche market for adults and children using them for sensory disorders - but they have become more mainstream over time. Customers praise the blanket for helping them relax, reducing anxiety and improving sleep patterns.

The blanket uses a so-called technique dubbed pressure touch. This is where lighter touches, like a tickle, can increase stress or irritation - but deep pressure touch can act like a hug, calming the central nervous system and boosting serotonin to help people relax and sleep better.

Recently, they have become popular, with customers looking for ways to stay warm and keep stress-free during difficult times.

CosiHome's luxury weighted blankets for adults come in at 6.8kg and are available in a range of colours all of which are reduced by 10 per cent for shoppers using the code WEIGHTED10.

Reviewers have taken to CosiHome's website to praise the blankets, as many describe them as a "game changer" that helped them sleep better.

One buyer said: "I love this blanket. It's really helping me deal with my depression and anxiety when it gets overwhelming. Lying under this feels like a gentle but firm hug, you can feel the weight of it without feeling pinned down by it.

"It's also really soft for extra coziness, and I'm sure I'll appreciate being able to remove the extra layer when summer is here. I highly recommend it."

Another said: "Wonderful blanket. I’m new to the weighted variety but this is wonderful. A perfect weight and size. I have never slept so well."

The blanket is filled with thousands of hypoallergenic, non-toxic microbeads throughout nine cotton layers. It also comes with a double-sided super soft machine-washable cover, making it easy to keep the bedding feeling fresh.

The product also comes with a carry bag so it can be stored away when not in use.

A children's version of the blanket is lighter at 3.2kg, meaning lying under the blanket feels comfortable but not like being pushed down, no matter the person's size. However, heavier version are also available.

The CosiHome Luxury Weighted Blanket is available on their website now in a range of colours.
