Shoppers go wild for air fryer Christmas tree potatoes that cost pennies to make

Shoppers are going wild about a recipe to make a simple festive treat in the air fryer.

With more and more people choosing the cooking method to keep fuel bills down, they're on the lookout for easy and fun things to make.

The Christmas tree potatoes are exactly that - and described as 'super cute' and 'yummy' by those who have tried them.

Effectively it's just chopped up potatoes with salt, dried parsley, chilli flakes and parmesan.

The original creator of the idea was @Foodmadesimple who shared it on TikTok, where more than 150k people have liked it.

But the recipe has since been widely shared elsewhere, including on The Flexible Fridge blog here.

This gives a step-by-step guide to making them by simply threading the pieces of potato onto skewers, spraying them with oil and then putting them in the air fryer basket for 18 to 20 minutes.

Once cooked you take them out and sprinkle with the other ingredients.

"These Tik Toka air fryer crispy potatoes are really easy to make and they look so impressive when they are finished," says the blog. "The potatoes form a festive tree-like shape that looks beautiful on the plate."

One Facebook page that posted the recipe is My Heavenly Recipes where it's since been shared more than 12k times and received more than 2,000 comments.

"Totally having Christmas trees for dinner yummy," said one. "How cute!! Gonna have to try these," said another.

Earlier this week we reported how shoppers were raving over another cheap air fryer snack.

One woman shared a photo of how she used a 38p tin of peeled potatoes from Aldi to make into an 'absolutely beautiful' snack in her Tower air fryer.

Tower Vortx fryers are available in different sizes including 4-litre, 7.6-litre and 9-litre and can be ordered from retailers including Very, Argos, Amazon, AO, B&M, Boots, Freemans, Wayfair and the Tower website itself.
