If you were one of the few people that didn’t get an air fryer for Christmas, you may well be searching for one of the energy-efficient gadgets that will help save on time and money, while helping you stick to New Year resolutions to eat better.
This week, Aldi’s Ambiano 17L air fryer pre-orders went live , but as expected, sold out extremely quickly. And while shoppers can find them in the middle aisle from today, there’s a good chance that the Specialbuy will sell out in stores, too.
So, Manchester Evening News have scoured the web for some affordable alternatives to Aldi’s sell-out air fryer, with options under £50 found at Wilko, Asda, Very and Robert Dyas.

The Aldi halogen air fryer has been hailed as the ‘best thing ever’ by shoppers, while others say it’s even better than top-rated brands like Ninja.
The large-capacity fryer is ideal for cooking big family meals or batch cooking - and it's £10 cheaper than Aldi's popular 4.5-litre version, coming in at £29.99 . It’s set to be so in-demand that Aldi has even implemented a two-fryer maximum purchase limit on the popular product.
The description reads: "Treat your taste buds with this Ambiano 17L Halogen Air Fryer. Featuring full thermostatic temperature controls, a timer function and 1300W of power. Plus, you'll receive accessories such as a rack and tongs to make serving a simple task. Cook your favourite foods and discover new ones with this trending halogen air fryer."
It comes with a five-litre extension ring to unlock the full 17-litre capacity, a 60-minute timer setting, self-cleaning function and adjustable temperature control.
But, if you’re struggling to get your hands on the Ambiano air fryer, Robert Dyas is selling the 17L Daewoo halogen air fryer for £39.99 , down from its RRP of £89.99. It has both a carbon heating bulb and a built-in fan to circulate the air evenly, so you're guaranteed to get perfectly cooked food far quicker than in a conventional oven. The same device is £44 on Amazon and Very .
Slightly more expensive, but with rave reviews, is the Wilko Halogen 17L Cooker, costing £50 . Perfect for frying, roasting, grilling and baking, the halogen cooker uses less energy and ‘cooks three times faster’.
One shopper who left a five star review on the Wilko site said: “Excellent quality for the price. Enjoying using it & saving on energy costs.”
Another added: “I have been using halogen ovens for the last 15 years. This is without a doubt THE BEST I have had - and the quietest.”
And a third wrote: “Got this 4 weeks ago my over broken down got this to keep us going but this is brilliant and yes you can cook a full dinner in it 100% would recommend.”
