Early Sunday morning, a tragic shooting incident occurred in Washington, D.C., resulting in two fatalities and five individuals sustaining injuries, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident took place at the intersection of 7th Street and P Street Northwest, close to the Kennedy Recreation Center in downtown D.C. The police responded to the scene around 3 a.m. following reports of the shooting.
All the wounded victims, identified as adults, were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, according to Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll.

However, authorities have described the suspect as a Black male with an average build, wearing a blue shirt and light-colored pants. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene on foot, heading south on 7th Street.
