Shivam Dube injured, may miss Ranji Trophy knockouts

RAJKOT: In what will be a big blow for Mumbai, India's T20 allrounder Shivam Dube is could be to be ruled out of the rest of the Ranji Trophy season due to a "bilateral side strain injury," TOI has learnt.

Dube has amassed 407 runs in five matches in the Ranji Trophy this season, at an average of 67.83, with two centuries and an equal number of fifties under his belt, besides taking 12 wickets@12.08 with his medium-pace bowling.

On Tuesday, the selectors will pick the team for Mumbai's quarterfinal clash against Baroda at the Mumbai Cricket Association's grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex from February 23.

"Dube has a bilateral side strain injury, and is likely to be out of the rest of the Ranji Trophy season. He suffered the injury while batting during the last match against Assam (he scored 121 not out), and didn't come out to field in Assam's second innings at BKC. He has a grade one tear. Musheer Khan (the teenaged allrounder did well for the India Under-19 team in the U-19 World Cup in South Africa recently) is likely to be his replacement," a source said.

Mumbai has made it to the Ranji Trophy knockouts after a gap of one season.

2023-24 Ranji Trophy quarterfinal schedule:

QF1: Vidarbha vs Karnataka

QF2: Madhya Pradesh vs Andhra

QF3: Mumbai vs Baroda

QF4: Tamil Nadu vs Saurashtra
