Palm Beach County, Florida Sheriff Ric Bradshaw has provided updates on the investigation into the second assassination attempt against former President Trump. Authorities are currently looking into the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, and whether he had a local residence in Florida, despite his main residence being in Hawaii in recent years.
Sheriff Bradshaw confirmed that Routh is currently in custody at the Palm Beach County jail and is scheduled for a court appearance later on Monday. The focus of the investigation is on gathering additional forensics to determine the origin of the gun used in the attempted attack.
It was noted that Routh has not cooperated with law enforcement and it remains unclear whether he has legal representation at this time. Sheriff Bradshaw commended the Secret Service agents for their swift response in opening fire on Routh before he could harm the former president. He also mentioned that the Secret Service maintains a proactive presence, patrolling ahead of Trump during his golf outings.
