Sheridan Smith in Starstruck spat with Adam Lambert over Michael Buble impersonators

Sheridan Smith told a group of singers on Starstruck 'not to listen' to her fellow panellist Adam Lambert, after the two had a real difference of opinion on Saturday's show.

Like a revamp of Stars in their Eyes, but with more people, Starstruck made its debut on ITV last week, following weeks of preview adverts during the channel's prime time shows.

The premise of the new entertainment series is that three singers all transform into their favourite act at the same time, with week one tributes including ones to Freddie Mercury and Lady Gaga.

After each trio performs to one of their music icon's biggest hits it's the job of the panel to give their feedback.

No Return actress Sheridan and singer Adam, who has toured with Queen, are judges on Starstruck alongside Jason Manford and Beverley Knight and on Saturday's second episode, they were entertained by three Michael Buble impersonators.

After each of the men had sang a bit of the Canadian crooner's hit Feeling Good, before joining in unison, it was over to the judges to deliver their verdicts.

While Sheridan, who had a go at her co-stars last week for being 'too harsh,' was overwhelmingly positive with her critique, former American Idol runner up Adam was nowhere near as impressed.

He told the lads: "You're very chic, I love the transformation.

"But I'm going to be honest; I don't know whether I necessarily got distinct Buble out of your vocals.

"I feel like there was good stage presence but I wasn't able to close my eyes and hear Michael Buble fully."

Leaping to the singers' defence, Sheridan interrupted: "It's not just about the vocal, you guys nailed it I thought.

"Three Bubles and you were fabulous. Don't listen to him," before turning to Adam and pretending to put her fists up at him.

Last week, Sheridan was defended by her co-star Jason Manford after some viewers hit out at her being on TV again, given she's been on screen in Four Lives, The Teacher and No Return in recent weeks.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "Seen a few comments about Sheridan being on tv a lot this week. It’s not sommat (sic) she’s in charge of,she would’ve filmed those 3 excellent shows last year & some scheduler decided they went on this week. So chill out, also she’s excellent & you’re lucky to have her."
