Sheridan Smith fans spot huge legal blunder in ITV's No Return as Noah faces jail

Viewers tuning into ITV's No Return have been left frustrated by a huge legal blunder in the Sheridan Smith drama.

The new drama - which aired its second episode on Monday night - sees Sheridan play a British mother Kathy Powell, who is left reeling after her 16-year-old son Noah Powell (Louis Ashbourne Serkis) is arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting another teenager.

Things worsen for the family when the Turkish police get involved and it then transpires that the other child, named Milo, is actually 15-years-old. Noah is put in jail as the family hire a solicitor to try and help them out of the mess.

However, fans tuning into the ITV show have been left confused - as they point out the family are making a huge blunder in their legal fight to get Noah freed from jail. In tonight's show, they even offer the police money to stop the case going to court.

But viewers don't understand why the family haven't contacted the British Embassy about everything that's happened.

"I would be straight on the phone to the British embassy and I would not be taking the first lawyer the holiday rep recommends. #NoReturn," one viewer wrote as they fumed at the fictional family.

"Who needs the British Embassy? Just take the dodgy advice from your ropey lawyer wearing a s*** suit. #noreturn," a second wrote, whilst a third shared: "#noreturn wouldn’t one of the first things that they should do be call The British Embassy?"

A fourth said: "#NoReturn is causing me so much anxiety, for many reasons, not least the fact that this family have not bothered to contact the British embassy or try to get any help besides this incredibly local lawyer who they really know f*** all about. Insanity."

"Frustrated they’ve still not got the British Embassy involved. Ridiculous #NoReturn #sheridansmith," a fifth penned.

A sixth took to Twitter to voice their concerns, writing: "I am still surprised that the British Embassy still hasn’t been involved or had it? #noreturn," with a seven adding: "Why aren’t they using the British Embassy instead of some slippery narcissistic lawyer? #noreturn."

Sheridan previously explained how the "lost" family are just desperate to get help - from wherever they can.

"They end up with a Turkish lawyer called Rico, played by Philip Arditti, who is a brilliant character who drives a flash car. The family are just lost, basically, and he makes suggestions about how to deal with the police. It’s such an ordeal for them all," she said.
