Sheraldo Becker opens up on 'dream' next step as Everton transfer links emerge

Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker has hinted at the possibility of moving to the Premier League as he continues to be linked with a move to Everton.

Becker, who has seven goals and four assists this season for high-flying Bundesliga side Union Berlin, was linked with a move to Goodison Park in the final days of the January transfer. However, with the late sacking of former manager Frank Lampard and the subsequent appointment of Sean Dyche, Everton failed to find a suitable replacement for Anthony Gordon, who sealed a £45m switch to Saudi-backed Newcastle United.

The Blues had been linked with a move for former Swansea City man and then-free agent Andre Ayew, who later joined Nottingham Forest, after reportedly missing out on Becker. But the Union Berlin star has now indicated he would be open to moving to the Premier League in the coming months as he looks to take the next step of his career and fulfil his 'dream'.

“My dream would be to take the next step in the Bundesliga or to another big league in Europe," said Becker, speaking to De Telegraaf. "That would be wonderful for me.”

The Berlin-based side have been one of the Bundesliga's surprise packages this season and currently find themselves second in the German top flight, just one point behind Bayern Munich.

But if the German minnows are able to maintain their impressive early-season form, it could be hard for Everton to tempt Becker away from the German capital due to the possibility of Champions League football coming to the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei next season.

However, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a constant battle for fitness, Neal Maupay so far struggling to replicate the form he produced during his time at Brighton and Brentford, and with a string of academy prospects not yet ready for the ruthlessness of Premier League football, Becker could be the answer to the Blues' woes in the final third.
