In 1976, Heart were riding high. Their first album Dreamboat Annie had yielded two instant classics, Crazy On You and Magic Man. They were touring non-stop, winning fans as an opener for Rod Stewart and Steve Miller.

To capitalise on their successful debut, their label, small Canadian indie Mushroom, took out an ad in the trade papers modelled as a send-up of the cover of the salacious tabloid newspaper The National Enquirer.
