A bartender in Denver has claimed he recently came across a unique experience while working. As found by Brobible, Jay, who hosts a digital series called ‘Yo I’m a Bartender‘, shared a story on TikTok about what he says was a woman who left a baby alone on top of a table in his restaurant.
In his TikTok video, Jay claimed that the incident happened during what he described as a normal Tuesday, when a server named Carl, who was waiting on an order nearby, allegedly asked Jay what they should do about a child left alone. According to Jay, he was confused and asked the server to explain. He recalled the moment by saying, “I go, ‘Whose kid?’ And he goes, ‘That lady that just went to the bathroom.'” When the server reportedly confirmed that a woman had left a child in a booth, Jay said he was stunned.
After looking into it, Jay claimed he walked over to a window and saw what appeared to be a baby sitting alone on top of a table. According to Jay, the infant looked too young to even walk yet. Jay described the sight by saying, “And it’s up on there with the biggest smile in the world, like a f— movie scene.” Because the restaurant allegedly had hard, unpadded concrete floors, Jay said he quickly told the server to keep a close watch on the baby, so it did not fall off the table.
A manager allegedly stepped in as the woman returned from the restroom
Jay then said in his video, he went to find his manager, who was also named Carl, to deal with the situation. Jay alleged that when the manager came over and saw the unattended infant, he moved to step in just as the woman returned from the restroom. According to Jay, her explanation for what happened was brief. Jay recalled, “She comes back, and she says, ‘I had to go.'”
Jay speculated the woman could have been the child’s grandmother, given their apparent age difference. Stories about unusual requests Denver bartenders receive are not uncommon in the service industry.
The story apparently drew many comments from people in the service industry who shared their own experiences. According to those comments, some workers say leaving children alone is a recurring problem. A parent wrote, “Mother of 4 here…I HAVE NEVER LEFT MY CHILD UNATTENDED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM.”
Another user claimed they had seen something similar, writing, “I’ve had to go find parents who left their baby still in a carrier at the table while they went to gamble… which is in a whole other side of the restaurant before. it’s crazy…”.

Not everyone appeared to accept the story at face value. One user wrote, “lol that sounds like a babysitter. No way a mom would leave her small child unattended.” Jay’s video appears to be part of a growing trend of bartenders going viral for sharing candid accounts of customer behavior.
A Fox News report states that 75% of survey respondents said they support the idea of child-free settings, whether through specific late-night rules or areas set aside for adults. The debate about children in dining spaces appears to continue, and Jay’s video seem to offer one example of the kinds of unusual situations that can allegedly take place in a public bar.
