A Newcastle equality campaigner who met the Queen several times has remembered Her Majesty as someone who had "great respect for people".
Hari Shukla, 88, has been honoured with a CBE, MBE and OBE at Buckingham Palace over the years for his decades of work striving for racial and religious harmony in Newcastle. Now, the veteran campaigner has paid tribute to the Queen and shared his memories of meeting Her Majesty with Chronicle Live.
"I had the privilege of meeting the Queen three times in the past when there were Garden Parties and on two occasions when I went to collect my [honours]" he said.
