Shayden Morris addresses Aberdeen's poor form as he shares fan frustration

Shayden Morris understands why Aberdeen fans are furious at the way their Scottish Premiership campaign is unravelling. The Dons were on the end of a shock three nil home thrashing against St Mirren last weekend, with winger Morris introduced into the action on the hour mark hoping to provide a response. Despite that, it was a feeble effort from those in red and Pittodrie had almost emptied out prior to Greg Kiltie scoring St Mirren's third in second half stoppage time after Stefan Gartenmann brought down Toyosi Olusanya in the box. A eighth defeat of the domestic season leaves Barry Robson's side languishing only a point off the relegation play-off spot, albeit with games in hand, and the pressure is piling on the players to bounce back when they face Ross County in the Highlands on Tuesday. Morris reckons the latest showing was out of character considering Aberdeen had won back-to-back league matches before adverse weather left them without competitive football for 10 days, but acknowledges that supporters have every right to be angry. He said: "Yes there are massive expectations here. There are big expectations from the fans and we know that. We put the pressure on ourselves as well. We know that when results don’t go our way that the fans won’t be happy. We want to turn things around for them and the manager on Tuesday. We want to go to Dingwall to try and get the three points. That is what we are going for." Manager Barry Robson was understandably left fuming at the performance his men had served up in front of a healthy Pittodrie crowd. And Morris admits none of the Aberdeen squad needed to be reminded that their display failed to meet expectations. "He told us straight away that it was an unacceptable performance but we knew that," he confessed. "We didn’t even need him to tell us that because we look at ourselves first, as players on the pitch. We weren’t great in the first half and it led into the full game. "It is about getting a run of results. We know if we can do that like we did last season when we went on that run to get third place. We hope to do that again in the new year. “When you come to Aberdeen, you know how big the club is. At times when things aren’t going our way we will hear about it and know about it. It’s not about feeling the pressure or handling it because we all know what we need to do to turn it around. It’s not like we haven’t been here before and we know how to deal with it.” Morris was questioned on the prospect that opponents are viewing Aberdeen as vulnerable. But was quick to make the claim that it could just require a bit of luck for their season to turn. He stated: "We were definitely in form and that was why it was a shock and a wake-up call to us. It was a performance that was out of character. “We want results going our way. This group, we have had a lot of ambitions for the year. We know where we want to end the season. We are just waiting for that bit of luck and then we will kick on. I am in no doubt about that.”
