Shawn Mendes Announces New Self-Titled Album 'Shawn' Release Date

Rolling Stones hold a private album release party concert in New York

Multiplatinum, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has revealed that his upcoming self-titled album, 'Shawn,' is set to be released on October 18. This album, Mendes' fifth studio release under Island Records, is a reflection of his recent travels and experiences following the cancellation of his 2022 tour.

The lead singles from the album, 'Why Why Why' and 'Isn't That Enough,' are scheduled to be released on August 8. Despite the album announcement, there has been no news regarding a tour at this time.

Two years ago, Mendes made the difficult decision to postpone and eventually cancel his Wonder: The World Tour in order to prioritize his mental health. In a heartfelt message to his fans, Mendes expressed the need to take time to focus on personal well-being and promised to return stronger in the future.

Mendes recently took to social media to share his excitement about the new project, emphasizing the healing power of music. The album, co-written and co-produced by Mendes, features collaborations with Scott Harris, Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, and Eddie Benjamin, among others.

'Shawn' was crafted over a two-year period in various locations, including Costa Rica, Rhinebeck, NY, Washington State, Nashville, and New York City. Grammy-winning writer Amy Allen and Ethan Gruska also contributed to the songwriting process, with instrumentation from Chris Thile of the Punch Brothers.

Accompanying the album announcement, Mendes released a music video for 'Isn't That Enough,' offering fans a glimpse into the creative direction of the project. Fans can now pre-order the album to secure their copy.

Shawn Mendes' previous studio album, 'Wonder,' was released in December 2020, further solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the music industry.

With 'Shawn,' Mendes aims to guide listeners through a profound self-dialogue, offering a collection of songs that reflect his personal growth and introspection. The album is a testament to Mendes' resilience and artistic evolution, showcasing his vulnerability and authenticity.
