Shaun Ryder says brother Paul was going deaf 24 hours before 'iffy' death

Shaun Ryder says his brother Paul was going death 24 hours before he was found dead – despite a “clean bill of health”.

The 58-year-old was found dead in his bed at their mother’s home in Manchester last month (July 15).

His family has since released a statement, revealing that Paul was suffering from severe headaches in the days leading up to his sudden death.

According to the coroner, Paul died as a result of Ischaemic heart disease and diabetes.

The Ryders told MailOnline: “At this point in time we have no further information until the full coroner’s report is released.

"As previously reported, he was complaining of severe headaches in the two days leading up to his death. And the day before his death was having trouble hearing.

"Paul had no prior knowledge of having heart disease and was given a clean bill of health, aside from the diabetes for which he was taking medication, just months before his passing.”

Shaun thinks his brother’s death has something to do with the Covid vaccine he got a few weeks before his death.

The 59-year-old said: “It's a bit iffy to me – he's a 50-something-year-old bloke, he'd had a clean bill of health, and he has his booster, flies over here and dies.

“We're going to be waiting two weeks for the autopsy.”

After his death, Happy Mondays- which originally was made up of Paul, Shaun, Gary Whelan on drums, Paul Davis on keyboard and Mark ‘Bez’ Day on guitar - wrote in a Facebook post: “The Ryder family and Happy Mondays band members are deeply saddened and shocked to say that Paul Ryder passed away this morning.

"A true pioneer and legend. He will be forever missed.

"We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”

Paul was found dead just hours before the band was due to perform at Kubix Festival in Sunderland.

His funeral was held at St Charles Church in Swinton, Manchester, earlier this week.

The service featured Paul's bandmate Rowetta singing Bridge Over Troubled Water before prayers and then David Bowie's Starman as the recessional music.

On the back of the order of service, a message read: "Paul's family wish to express their sincere thanks to you all for your many kind messages of sympathy, love and support at this very sad time."
