Shaun Ryder has revealed he once feared for his life after suffering from a panic attack.
The Happy Mondays singer, 60, opened up on the frightening moment when he was 53, admitting he thought it was going to kill him.
The ordeal took place seven years ago as the I'm A Celebrity star went on a trip to Hong Kong. He explained the severity of the situation had him fearing for the worst.
"When I was younger I thought I was invincible," he said. "I thought, ‘I can’t die, I’m invincible’.
"But then I had a panic attack at 53. I thought I was going to die. That totally changed me. It changed my life."
The singer made the confession to Daily Star as he revealed his second stint on I'm A Celebrity had viewers watching a different version of himself.
He revealed to the publication: "This time when I did the show, I was the biggest s***bag in the world. I’ve changed."
He opened up on the health issues he is battling, including alopecia, ADHD and an overactive thyroid.
His time in the South African Bush was short-lived after fans saw him evicted alongside previous nemesis Gillian McKeith.
The pair's time was up after they lost a trial - mainly due to Gillian's hesitation in putting her hand into a box of snakes at the first part of the task.
Fans were quick to blame the nutritionist for her dismal attempts as they shared their sorrow that Shaun had to go.
In his exit chat, Shaun said he got on particularly well with former US model Janice Dickinson and ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell.
"Janice is on my level. She’s as mad as a bag of bouncing frogs. Which is cool by me,” he laughed. “And I love Phil. And Fatima. And of course, later on, Andy [Whyment].
"I really wanted to take Phil home with me."
It remains to be seen what is next for the pair. Shaun recently released a tune with the Wigan band The Lottery Winners.
The catchy tune titled Money saw the group act as repo people for the video and taking all of rich Shaun's lavish items from his state house.
Frontman Thom Rylance described the Happy Mondays man as a "true Manchester music legend and truly is a genius," to the Manchester Evening News.
