It's barely the start of 2026, and the headline that I wrote already fills me with dread for the rest of the year. Not because it's particularly world-ending, as is much of the rest of the news these days. But because it's just so...dumb. God, this timeline is utter trash.
Anyways, a few years back, Sharknado and Beverly Hills, 90210 actor Ian Ziering, got into a fist fight with a handful of motorcyclists. And, at the time, he characterized it as an unprovoked attack on himself and his daughter, who was in his car with him. But in recent days, one of the motorcyclists has come forward to sue Ziering for his own unprovoked attack on the motorcyclists.
Wildly, the motorcyclists were on Honda Groms, the least intimidating of motorcycles. Yet, the two will now have to face each other once again in a court of law, as it's all down to he-said, she-said, though there is some video of the incident. My head hurts just writing all of this.
Word of the lawsuit broke on Rolling Stone, which obtained the suit against Ziering. The outlet reported, "In the new complaint filed Monday and obtained by Rolling Stone, [Jacob] Hernandez claims he was piloting a relatively new 125-cc Honda motorbike when he found himself trapped in standstill New Year’s Eve traffic in front of Ziering’s vehicle Dec. 31, 2023. He claims the actor jumped out of his Mercedes-Benz and attacked him 'without provocation' on Hollywood Boulevard."
The suit added, "Defendant suddenly exited the car, yelled at plaintiff and aggressively approached plaintiff who remained on his motorbike. Without pause or hesitation, defendant with full force shoved [Hernandez] with both hands into the upper body of plaintiff twice."
Ziering, at the time of the incident, which again, took place two years ago, recounted a very different tale, one where Hernandez and his fellow Grom ilk were the aggressors, "While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation," stated Ziering, "In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself." He went on to pontificate about the lawlessness happening on the streets, and "hooliganism," that permeates Los Angeles.
You can't see it, but my eyes rolled into the back of my skull soooo hard.
Hernandez, apparently, was later arrested for the incident, but subsequently released without being charged. The motorcyclist is now seeking damages for the whole affair, though the monetary value will be deteremind if it goes to trial. But the whole thing screams as "pick me" energy, and not exclusively from Hernandez. There's a lot from Ziering's original Instagram post from the incident, where the actor plays the victim where maybe he was the aggressor. Either way, welcome to 2026, folks! Get me the hell out of here.
