Shaquille O’Neal believes Steph Curry needs to be part of the “greatest players of all time” discussion. His comments came during a recent post-game show for TNT, following Curry’s overtime heroics for the Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics, where he drained a rainbow three-point shot to close out the game.
O’Neal prefaced his claim by discussing how Curry is the most skillful player he’s ever seen. He also referenced Curry’s incredible success throughout his career and the longevity he’s been able to show by still producing at an elite level despite being 35 years old.
“He’s been consistently the best shooter (for his) whole career,” O’Neal said. “I’m wondering is it time to start putting him as the best player of all time. Yes (I put him over me.) I played 20 years. Watched 20 years before that. I’ve never seen a guy like that. And he’s doing it consistently. And he has championships…For all the chitter chatter, is it time to start putting him in the conversation as one of the best players ever?”
The notion of crowning one player as the greatest of all time is often debated. There are too many elite talents throughout the league’s history. As such, a significant portion of NBA fans have now begun discussing who is the best of their era or the best shooter, dunker, passer, etc.
Shaq: "I'm wondering is it time to putting [Steph Curry] as the best player of all-time."
Kenny Smith: "You put him over you?"
Shaq: "Yes…I'm asking the fans, is it time to start putting him in the conversation as one of the best players ever."
