Shannon Sharpe delivered an emotional message to Skip Bayless in his final day on Undisputed

Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless have very clearly had their ups and downs together while co-hosting Undisputed on FS1.

Things seemed to be really bad between the two. Bad enough to the point that Sharpe liked tweets comparing Bayless to Weird Al Yankovic after reports first surfaced that he may be on the way out.

We’ve seen the tension between these two come to life on screen — particularly after Bayless’ crass comments about Damar Hamlin. Even in Sharpe’s attempt to counter what Bayless had said things flared up between the two of them.

But none of that stopped Sharpe from thanking Bayless in an emotional moment the two shared on what Sharpe announced would be his last day at FS1.

Sharpe began to tear up as he thanked Bayless for the time the two of them spent together.

“Skip Bayless. You fought for me brother. I’m here because of you. You allowed me to share the stage with you. You allowed me to share the platform. I’m going to cry in the car but I’m not going to cry now. The opportunity that you gave me to become what I became, I’m very indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know. All I ask is when you lay your head on that pillow at night, know I gave everything I had.”

Bayless replied to Sharpe in kind, giving back some of the love that he’d just received from his co-host.

“I want to thank you for dedicating yourself to this job. It is a voracious beast of a show, day after day after day. You dedicated yourself to this job just the way you dedicated yourself to professional football as a Hall of Famer. I want to thank you for never taking a sick day. I want to thank you for preparing as hard as you could, every single day. Every single topic. I want to thank you for competing as hard as you competed with me. Because the greatest compliment I can give you is you were a worthy adversary.”

Though things are probably not ending on the brightest note between these two, it’s still nice to see them exchange pleasantries and appreciation for one another in this way.

Sharpe hasn’t made any announcements on what’s next for him in his career, but you can be sure that he’ll be back on television sooner rather than later.
