Shane Warne’s former partner Emily Scott has shared a heartfelt tribute to the cricketing legend.
The 39-year-old Australian model, who was linked to the spin bowler in 2014, opened up about feeling a great sense of “loss” after his death.
The 52-year-old cricketing legend tragically suffered a suspected heart attack while holidaying in Koh Samui, Thailand last week.
The record-breaking star was found unresponsive in his hotel room by friends and was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Sharing a smiling picture alongside Warne, Ms Scott called him her ‘friend’ and ‘confidante’ as she spoke fondly of her memories with Warne.
“You were my friend and confidante. We’d play. You were the most fun. Your kids, you were adorable with them. The loss feels too much. You gave the gift of your light, numerous memories, and I’ll always treasure them,” Scott wrote.
Her tribute was quickly flooded with supportive messages from followers who also paid their respects to the sports star.
The former couple were romantically involved in 2014 and were spotted at several events together in London and Paris. However, their relationship lasted just a few months.
Tributes have poured in from across the globe this week as friends and fans reflected on the cricketer’s iconic career.
Actress Liz Hurley, 56, who was engaged to Warne for two years, was among the A-listers who shared tributes following his death.
Alongside several throwback pictures of the pair, the Austin Powers star wrote: “I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart @shanewarne23.”
Other celebrities that have paid tribute to the star following his death included Ed Sheeran, Mick Jagger and Kylie Minogue.
On Thursday Warne’s body was flown back to Australia where a state funeral is expected to be held for the cricketing legend at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In honour of Warne’s legacy, the Great Southern Stand will be named the SK Warne Stand in the spin king’s memory.
His casket was draped in an Australian flag during his journey home.
